Health Imperatives
Health Imperatives provides health care and human services to more than 30,000 people each year across the South Shore, South Coast, Cape, and Islands. Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of low-income or vulnerable families and individuals, and we offer a continuum of services to foster vibrant, healthy, and safe families. Our programs include: - WIC nutrition assistance, including healthy foods, nutrition education, and breastfeeding support; - Education, resources, and support to assist young parents in raising healthy, happy children; - Crisis counseling and support, emergency shelter, and advocacy services for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence; - Pregnancy prevention, cancer screenings, HIV and Hepatitis C testing and prevention, and testing and treatment for other sexually transmitted infections; and, - Health care and supportive services for adjudicated youth and for formerly incarcerated individuals who are living with HIV/AIDS or Hepatitis C. These services address vulnerable families’ often complex needs, particularly those related to food insecurity, health disparities, and trauma.
