Andy applies his top-notch immunology training, statistical aptitude, and expertise in computer science to the challenge of simplifying and streamlining public health monitoring. As he investigates incoming health data, he deploys an array of computational and analytical modeling techniques to characterize and predict community health conditions. His overriding goal is to improve the quality of healthcare by utilizing easily accessible data streams.
Andy holds a doctorate in molecular biology and immunology from Johns Hopkins University. Before joining HMS in 2008, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Computer Science and as a graduate student at Johns Hopkins University’s Bloomberg School of Public Health.
An accomplished and sought-after industry speaker, Andy has presented at such symposia as the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists Annual Conference and the Annual International Society for Disease Surveillance Conference. He is a member of the International Society for Disease Surveillance and the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists, and has received numerous awards for his research.
His book, Faith Across the Multiverse: Parables from Modern Science, was published in August 2018.
