Marquez Campbell has a diverse and extensive work experience in the healthcare industry. Marquez began their career in 2006 as the Director of Healthcare Operations and Planning for the USNS MERCY T AH-19 during a Humanitarian Assistance deployment. Marquez then moved on to work at various positions within Navy Medicine West, including Director of Administration, where they provided support and management for a healthcare delivery system across multiple locations. Campbell also served as the Director for Administration with the U.S. Navy's Expeditionary Medical Facility in Kuwait, providing healthcare services and support for deployed forces. Marquez later worked as the Deputy Surgeon and Senior Medical Planner for the 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force. Campbell has also held leadership roles in professional associations, such as being the President of the San Diego Organization of Healthcare Leaders. Marquez worked at the University of Phoenix as an Associate Faculty in the College of Health Professions. Most recently, Campbell held a leadership position at Health Net Federal Services as the Vice President of Market Operations, and previously as the Program Executive responsible for the TRICARE health plan.

Marquez Campbell obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Management from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. Marquez then pursued further education at UC San Diego, where they completed a Master of Advanced Studies program in Leadership in Health Care Organizations from 2002 to 2004.
