Ken Whelan

Ken Whelan currently serves as the Deputy Commissioner of Health New Zealand and holds a ministerial appointment as a Crown Observer on the Health New Zealand Board. Throughout an extensive career, Ken Whelan has operated as Principal at Ken Whelan Consulting, a Board Member for the RDNS Group, a Crown Monitor for the Ministry of Health, and a Facilitator for Hardy Group, where Ken Whelan supports leadership development. Additionally, Ken Whelan has collaborated with GE Healthcare as a contractor to deliver leadership programs and worked as a consultant for Brisbane North PHN to enhance healthcare connectivity. Previous executive roles include Chief Executive Officer at Metro North Hospital and Health Service, and Deputy Director General at the New South Wales Ministry of Health. Ken Whelan also served as Chief Executive of Wide Bay Health District, focusing on community reconnection following a significant clinical incident.
