Tamika R. Francis

Tamika R. Francis has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries. Tamika R. is the founder and head cook of Food & Folklore since May 2017. Prior to this, they worked as the senior community engagement manager for Health Resources in Action from January 2015, where they were responsible for designing and implementing grassroots community policy and advocacy initiatives. Tamika R. also led a team of residents to establish local policy changes in various areas such as food, active transportation, and smoke-free housing.

Tamika served as the executive director and educational programs coordinator for theMOVE from 2013 to 2015. Tamika R. worked as a senior community-based tourism marketing officer for the Government of Saint Lucia from September 2010 to March 2012. Additionally, they completed a graduate practicum in the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) where they supported communication, public awareness, livelihoods, and project management components for biodiversity conservation and sustainable livelihoods.

Tamika's earlier experiences include working as a program manager and short-term consultant for Boston Park Advocates in 2009, development coordinator for Vietnamese American Initiative for Development (VietAID) from 2006 to 2008, volunteer/outreach coordinator for Social Capital Inc. from 2005 to 2007, and public awareness coordinator for ARD Inc. Ridge to Reef Watershed Project from July 2004 to July 2005.

Tamika R. Francis has a diverse education history. Tamika R. obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Sustainable International Development from The Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University from 2008 to 2010. In 2008, they also earned a Certificate in Fundraising from the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Furthermore, they completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography from The University of the West Indies between 2000 and 2003. In 2014, they pursued Non-Profit Management at Marlboro College Graduate & Professional Studies.
