Josephine Gagan

“There is no point being here if you can’t go out and make a difference.”

Josephine (Jo) Gagan is the Founder and former Chief Executive of Geneva Healthcare. In May 2018, she was appointed Group Chief Executive of New Zealand Health Group, Healthcare NZ’s parent company, and in October 2020 stepped into the role of Acting Chief Executive at Healthcare NZ.

In recognition of her contribution to the industry, Jo was named a finalist in the 2015 Women of Influence Awards and joined a select list of women inducted into the New Zealand Hall of Fame for Women Entrepreneurs in 2019.

As a third generation nurse, Jo inherited her desire to care for the community from her mother and grandmother. Prior to founding Geneva Healthcare, Jo had fifteen years of clinical nursing and health management experience both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

She was also one of the first students to complete the post graduate Diploma of Management (Health Services) at The University of Auckland’s Graduate School of Business. She has also been the longest serving CEO amongst the lead service providers in the New Zealand healthcare industry
