Karen Clemes

Karen Clemes has extensive work experience in the legal field. Karen is currently serving as the Vice President and Associate General Counsel at HealthEquity, where they manage employment law and litigation management areas. Prior to this, they worked as the General Counsel for Utah Valley University, serving as the chief legal officer and overseeing the Offices of General Counsel, Risk Management, and Compliance. Karen also worked as an Associate General Counsel at Ancestry.com, providing legal advice on employment law matters and managing outside employment litigation. Additionally, they have experience as an employment attorney at Ballard Spahr LLP, where they provided advice and counsel to management on various employment issues and defended employment and business litigation. Karen has also held positions at J. Reuben Clark Law School, the Corporation of the President at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps LLP, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and U.S. District Court, Southern District CA.

Karen Clemes has a Bachelor's Degree in Comparative Literature from Brigham Young University, which they obtained from 1981 to 1984. Karen further pursued their education at Brigham Young University and earned a Master's Degree in Humanities from 1984 to 1986. Later, they attended California Western School of Law, where they obtained their J.D. in Law from 1995 to 1998.
