Paul Stoddart has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Paul began their career as a Scientist at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) from August 1997 to December 2000. Paul then joined Swinburne University of Technology as a Research Fellow in August 2001 and later progressed to become a Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, and eventually a Professor. During their time at Swinburne, they also served as the Director of the Swinburne BioReactor, an ARC Training Centre in Biodevices. In this role, they led a team working with industry partners to develop medical devices, diagnostics, and services to enhance patient quality of life. In 2018, they co-founded Hearables 3D, and in 2020, they assumed the position of Chief Technology Officer at Nirtek. Currently, Paul Stoddart is an Innovation Fellow at Swinburne University of Technology.
Paul Stoddart completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Physics and Applied Maths at the University of the Witwatersrand from 1986 to 1988. Paul then pursued their Bsc (Honours) in Physics at the same university starting from 1989. Paul later earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Laser Spectroscopy from the University of the Witwatersrand, which they completed from 1992 to 1997.
