Director Of Security And Visitor Services at Heard Museum

Heather Sutherland has recently taken on the role of Director of Security and Visitor Services at the Heard Museum. Prior to this, they worked at the Phoenix Art Museum for 15 years, starting in 2006 as a Security Manager. In this role, they were responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the Museum's collection, staff, volunteers, and visitors. Heather managed the staff and operations of the Security Department and coordinated security for all events, exhibits, and day-to-day operations.

Heather Sutherland earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with a focus on Human Resources Management/Personnel Administration from Northern Arizona University-The W. A. Franke College of Business between 2017 and 2021. Prior to that, they obtained an Associate of Science (A.S.) in Business/Commerce from Paradise Valley Community College from 2015 to 2017. Heather also holds an Associate of Arts (A.A.) in Graphic Design from Auburn University at Montgomery, which they completed from 1992 to 1994. In addition to their education, Heather has obtained certifications in Emergency Management from FEMA, Red Cross Instructor from Red Cross Blood Services, and aPHR from the HR Certification Institute - HRCI.
