Roger P. Paschke

VP & Chief Investment Officer at Hearst

Roger Paschke is vice president and chief investment officer at Hearst, a leading global, diversified media, information and services company with more than 360 businesses. Paschke also serves as CIO for the Hearst Foundations.

In his role, Paschke manages Hearst’s pension assets, defined contribution plan, the Hearst Foundations and related entities, which, combined, exceed $6 billion. Recently, Paschke was named to Chief Investment Officer’s Power 100 list of the most influential people at pensions, endowments, foundations, insurance funds and sovereign wealth funds worldwide.

Previously, Paschke served as chief financial officer and senior vice president of OIL Group of Companies in Hamilton, Bermuda, from 1997 to 2006, where he was responsible for the company’s approximately $5 billion in assets under management. Paschke’s oversight included responsibility for rating agency relationships, accounting, budgeting, auditing, internal controls, pension investments and financial services for the insurance companies and related investment subsidiaries.

From 1978 to 1996, Paschke held a variety of positions with increasing responsibilities at the University of Minnesota. Beginning in 1992, he was treasurer and associate vice president for finance, responsible for nearly $3 billion in assets under management.

Paschke holds a bachelor’s in political science and criminal justice studies from the University of Minnesota.
