George Melillo

George Melillo has a diverse work experience in the veterinary and pharmaceutical industries. George is currently the Co-Founder and Chief Veterinary Officer of Heart + Paw since September 2018. Prior to that, they were the Chief Veterinary Officer of a new veterinary brand launched in the fall of 2018.

Before entering the veterinary industry, George held various roles in different companies. George was the Vice President of Veterinary Quality at Banfield Pet Hospital from March 2017 to May 2018, where they led a team of Medical Directors to ensure high-quality veterinary care in the northeast region. George also served as the Regional Medical Director for Banfield, overseeing medical quality, operations, and doctor development for 112 hospitals in the northeast from October 2011 to February 2017.

In addition, George worked as the Medical Director for the N. Maryland market at Banfield, where they were responsible for ensuring quality medicine and client experience in 15 hospitals from July 2010 to October 2011. George started their veterinary career as an Associate Veterinarian at Plymouth Meeting, PA hospital from January 2009 to July 2010, focusing on preventive veterinary care.

Before entering the veterinary industry, George worked as the Vice-President of West Park Imports, Inc., where they led the operations for the importation and distribution of European wines from August 2005 to March 2011. Prior to that, they were the General Manager of Pharmaceutical Resource Solutions, LLC from August 2001 to December 2005, where they provided regulatory and sales support for pharmaceutical companies.

George's early veterinary experience includes working as a Co-Owner of Glenolden Animal Hospital, where they helped grow the practice from a part-time clinic to a full-service small animal practice from June 1990 to December 1997. George also practiced small animal medicine as an Associate at Lehigh Valley Animal Hospital from June 1985 to June 1990, honing their client service and medical skills.

George Melillo attended the University of Pennsylvania from 1977 to 1985, where they obtained a VMD degree in Veterinary Medicine from 1977 to 1985, as well as a BA degree in Biology and History & Sociology of Science from 1977 to 1981. In addition to their formal education, George Melillo has acquired several certifications, including Crucial Accountability in February 2015, Advanced Facilitation Certification from Banfield Pet Hospital in May 2011, and FRANK Communication from Zoetis in May 2011.
