Erika Saffer

Erika Saffer has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Erika is currently working as the Innovation Lab Director at Hearth & Home Technologies since 2023. Prior to that, they worked at 3M for several years, starting as a Senior Product Development Engineer in 2014 and progressing to Senior Technical Supervisor. At 3M, they gained experience in product development, technical supervision, and leadership. Before joining 3M, they worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where they obtained a PhD in Chemical Engineering. Erika'sresearch focused on the characterization of polymeric materials and their macroscopic properties. Erika also has experience as a Graduate Co-Op at Genzyme, where they worked on biomaterial formulation and characterization. Additionally, they worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Technische Universität Darmstadt. Overall, Erika Saffer has demonstrated expertise in research, product development, technical supervision, and leadership roles.

Erika Saffer completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette between 2005 and 2009. Erika then pursued further education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Chemical Engineering from 2009 to 2014. Additionally, in May 2013, they obtained a Graduate Certificate in Cellular Engineering from the Institute for Cellular Engineering (ICE) IGERT Program at UMass Amherst.
