Director Food Safety And Quality - Fresh Division at Hearthside Food Solutions

Sam Beattie, PhD has over 20 years of experience in various roles related to food safety and quality. Starting in 1998, Sam worked as an Associate Professor at California State University, Chico, where they taught courses in food and nutrition and conducted research in fields such as soil microbiology and ecology. In 2003, they moved to Iowa State University as an Extension Specialist, specializing in consumer and manufacturing food safety and sustainable food processing. Sam then transitioned to the private sector in 2010, taking on the role of Director of Nutritional and Technical Services at PURFOODS LLC, where they oversaw food safety implementation and commissioned renovated plants. In 2015, they joined Greencore USA as the Corporate Director of Food Safety and Quality, managing food safety and quality control for the company's manufacturing facilities. Sam then took on the role of Director of Food Safety, Quality, and Technical Services at Greencore USA, LLC in 2018 before transitioning to their current position as the Director of Food Safety and Quality - Fresh Division at Hearthside Food Solutions later that year.

Sam Beattie, PhD, obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Food Science and Technology from Oregon State University. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Dairy Manufacturing from South Dakota State University.
