Desmond Armentrout currently serves as the Head High School Band Director at Des Moines Public Schools since June 2022 and has held various educational roles since 2010, including Study Hall Supervisor and Building Substitute Teacher at Waukee Community School District and an Associate Teacher at Heartland AEA. In addition, Desmond teaches as an Adjunct Faculty at Des Moines Area Community College, focusing on the humanities and the arts' societal impact. Desmond's work extends to scoring supervisor responsibilities for NCS Pearson and teaching assistant roles as a Ph.D. candidate in Music Education at the University of Massachusetts. Prior experience includes temporary work as a University Specialist at the University of Connecticut, along with substitute teaching in multiple school districts and serving as an On-Air Personality for KSOM/KS95 Radio Station. Desmond holds a Ph.D. in Music Teacher Education and possesses advanced degrees in the same field from the University of South Florida and a Bachelor's from Morningside University.
