Heartland for Children
Richard George, MA, CWPI, CWLC, currently serves as the Relicensing Program Manager and previously as a Licensing Specialist at Heartland for Children since October 2017. Richard's experience in child protection and case management includes roles as a Case Manager at Youth and Family Alternatives, Inc. and Senior Child Protective Investigator at the Florida Department of Children and Families. Additional experience encompasses positions such as Dependency Case Manager at Children's Home Society of Florida, Teacher at Polk County School Board, and Career Specialist at CareerSource Polk. Richard began a career in child protective investigations with the Florida Department of Children and Families and previously served as an Aircraft Armament System Specialist in the United States Air Force. Richard holds a Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Studies/Counseling from Southeastern University and a Master of Arts in Education, specializing in Curriculum and Technology from the University of Phoenix.

Heartland for Children
Heartland for Children is the local not-for-profit agency responsible for redesigning the foster care system in Polk, Hardee and Highlands Counties. Heartland for Children promotes the prevention of child abuse and oversees the provision of services for children who have been abused and/or neglected. These services include in-home family strengthening, adoption, case management, foster care and independent living. As the local Child Welfare Lead Agency, Heartland for Children is concerned with the safety and well being of all children in our community.
