Janell Peterson has extensive experience in human resources and college planning coaching. Currently serving as a College Planning Coach at the Heartland Institute of Financial Education since March 2016, Janell works with over 50 students and their parents to create personalized action plans for college selection and funding, including support in resume development for scholarships and admissions. Prior to this role, Janell held various director-level positions overseeing human resources in multiple Hyatt hotels, including roles as Director of Human Resources at Grand Hyatt Denver, Hyatt Regency Oak Brook, and Hyatt Regency Lexington. Janell began the career in human resources as Assistant Director of Human Resources at Hyatt Regency Minneapolis. Janell holds a Master’s degree in Organizational Performance & Change/Human Resources Studies from Colorado State University and a Bachelor of Science in Park and Recreation Administration from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse.

All of these individuals have earned their Certified Financial Educator® designation, which recognizes the financial professional who teaches others.
