Andy Watkinson CEng MIET MAPM has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Andy began their career at Max Wright Limited in 1991 as an Engineer and worked there until 1997. Andy then joined Rockwell Automation as a Senior Engineer and stayed with the company until 2003. In 2003, they joined Firstco as a Senior Engineer and later became the Engineering Manager in 2013. Andy also held the role of Lead Engineer - T5 Rail & Tunnels from 2005 to 2006.

In 2012, Andy worked at both WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff in the UK as a Seconded Lead Control and Monitoring Engineer and at Olive Group as a Seconded Control Room Design Engineer.

Since 2014, Andy has been working at Heathrow, initially as a Seconded APOC Project Manager from 2014 to 2015, then as a Seconded Chief Systems Engineer from 2015 to 2016. Andy subsequently became the Chief Systems Engineer from 2016 to 2017 and later transitioned to the role of Principal Systems Engineer, which they held until 2020. Currently, they hold the position of Principal Industrial Controls & Automation Engineer at Heathrow.

Andy Watkinson CEng MIET MAPM obtained an HND in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from the University of Hertfordshire from 1988 to 1990.
