Kevin Murphy

Kevin Murphy has a diverse work experience that spans several industries and includes various leadership positions. Kevin is currently serving as the Senior Vice President of Heffernan Insurance Brokers since November 2020. In addition, they are a Fish and Wildlife Commissioner for Nevada County, CA, responsible for public outreach and board meetings. Kevin is also a Trustee for the PGA Barracuda Championship, where they collaborate with industry leaders to create a premier golf tournament and fund regional and local non-profits. Kevin has been a Board Member for the Truckee Rotary Community Foundation since 2017 and was the CFO/Co-Founder of the EJ Tegner Golf Foundation for Children, aiming to provide access to golf and scholarships for children. Kevin is the Founder and President of Sierra Insurance, a leading independent commercial and personal insurance company. Kevin also founded the Old Trestle Distillery, focusing on crafting high-quality whiskey, gin, and vodka. Kevin has held various leadership roles within the Truckee Donner Recreation & Parks District, Truckee Rotary, and Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce, where they have demonstrated their skills in fundraising, financial management, and community development. Kevin Murphy attended The University of Montana's College of Business from 1976 to 1981, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Finance. Kevin then pursued their Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Information Systems at Golden Gate University from 1987 to 1990.
