Andreas Schmeil

Andreas Schmeil has a diverse work experience spanning different roles and organizations. Andreas is currently a Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer at HEGIAS AG since January 2018. Prior to that, Andreas co-founded and served as a Director at immpres - Immersive Presentations starting in May 2014. Andreas also worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Lecturer at Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) / University of Lugano from June 2012 to August 2016. Andreas had a visiting scholar position at Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) from September 2010 to April 2011 and a similar position at Simon Fraser University at ACT Lab from May 2010 to September 2010. Andreas also worked as a Research Associate at New Media in Education Lab at USI / University of Lugano from March 2008 to April 2010. Before that, Andreas held positions as a Research Associate at the HIT Lab NZ, University of Canterbury from October 2007 to February 2008, and as a Research Assistant at Fraunhofer IAO from April 2007 to September 2007. Andreas' early experience includes a role as a Research Assistant at Fraunhofer FIT from May 2005 to April 2006.

Andreas Schmeil earned their Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Informatics/Computer Science from Ulm University, where they studied from 2000 to 2006. Following this, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Communication Sciences at the USI Università della Svizzera italiana, completing their studies from 2008 to 2012.
