Shawn K. Baker

Shawn Baker currently serves as the Chief Program Officer at Helen Keller Intl since January 2023. Previous roles include Chief Nutritionist at USAID from February 2020 to January 2023, and Director of Nutrition at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation from August 2013 to August 2019. Baker's career began at Helen Keller International, where from April 1994 to July 2013, significant contributions were made as Vice-President and Regional Director for Africa, including overseeing office relocations in West Africa. Earlier experience includes serving as Country Director in Bangladesh for Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine and holding various positions related to food and nutrition surveillance with Peace Corps. Shawn Baker holds a Master of Public Health specializing in Public Health Nutrition from Tulane University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Marine Science from the University of Miami.
