Colin Smith

Colin Smith has a diverse work experience spanning from 2002 to 2023. Colin began their career in the US Navy, where they held various roles such as Flight Test Director & Test Pilot, Aviation Officer in Charge, and Deputy Director of Operations & Planning. In these roles, they led teams, conducted planning, and managed operational programs. After their time in the Navy, Colin worked at Bell Flight as a Sr Manager, leading cross-functional teams in win strategy development for domestic and international military business. Colin also held the position of Director of Avionics Programs at HENSOLDT INC. In 2019, Colin joined Bell Flight again as the Director of Strategy and Global Business Development, where they managed multi-million dollar programs and led cross-functional teams. Before their current role as the Head of Growth and Strategy at Heli-One, Colin worked as a Strategy and Business Consultant at Combine Strategy Group Services, where they partnered internationally to develop business concepts and financial models for defense electronics companies. Overall, Colin's work experience demonstrates their expertise in strategy, business development, program management, and leadership in the aerospace industry.

Colin Smith has a diverse educational background. Colin obtained an MBA degree from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. In addition, they hold a Master of Science (MS) degree in Systems Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University. Colin also earned a Master's degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College. Colin attended the United States Naval Test Pilot School, where they focused on aeronautics, airborne systems, and test flying. Colin holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Systems Engineering from the United States Naval Academy. Colin further pursued their studies at the University of Virginia, specifically in the School of Engineering. Lastly, Colin completed the United States Naval Aviation Safety School, where they delved into aviation safety and mishap investigation.
