Paul van Zuijlen

Paul van Zuijlen is a highly experienced academic and medical professional specializing in burn care and reconstructive surgery. Currently a Professor at Amsterdam UMC since 2010, Paul van Zuijlen leads research in tissue engineering, complexity science, and wound healing. As a Member of the Executive Board for the European Burns Association and past Director of the Burn Centre, Paul van Zuijlen has contributed to various committees, including the International Society for Burn Injuries. In addition to being a plastic surgeon at the Paediatric Surgical Centre in Amsterdam, Paul van Zuijlen has played a pivotal role in the development of the Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scale as its leader. Paul van Zuijlen also serves on the supervisory board of Heliomare and has held the position of Chairman for the Nederlandse Vereniging voor Brandwondenzorg until November 2023. Paul van Zuijlen holds a doctorate from the University of Amsterdam.
