Carl Zunker has a long and varied work experience. Carl began their career in 1997 as an Electrical Environmental Specialist with the United States Air Force. In 2012, they returned to the US Air Force as Deputy Chief of Logistics, where they held several roles, including Logistics Management Branch Deputy Chief, Integrated Logistics Support Manager for MQ-1/MQ-9 Ground Control Stations, Bomb Wing Executive Officer, and Officer in Charge. During this time, they were also a PhD Candidate. In 2021, they became Deputy Chief of Logistics for AFRSO. In 2022, they joined Hellebore as Senior Program Manager. In 2013, they began working as an Adjunct Instructor for Professional Aeronautics at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Carl Zunker began their educational journey in 2005 when they earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Safety/Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Carl then went on to earn a Master's degree in Safety/Management from the same institution in 2009. In 2014, they earned a Master of Science (M.S.) in Predictive Analytics from Northwestern University. In 2017, they began a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Logistics, Materials, and Supply Chain Management at the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology, which they are expected to complete in 2021. Zunker is also expected to obtain a Life Cycle Logistics Level III certification from the Defense Acquisition University in 2022.
