Sergios Ampariotis was born in Athens and graduated from the College of Athens in 1978. He received his BSc in 1981 from Imperial College and his MSc from Stanford University in 1982. He trained as a mechanical engineer. Since 1985 he has been working in the fields of Energy and Facilities Management in Greece and abroad. He founded and served as CEO of two companies with a very significant presence in these sectors in Greece, ENERTA SA and ALPHA POWERTEC SA (renamed GEK TERNA Group of Companies) respectively. In addition, he has been a member of the Boards of Directors of companies that belong to large construction groups in Greece.

From his graduation until today he has maintained close ties with the College of Athens. From 1986 to 1994 he was a representative of his class (fund drive class agent), from 1999 to 2003 he was Secretary General of the Alumni Association of Athens College - Psychic College (SAKA) and from 2005 to 2009 President of the Board . of SAKA. Since 2009, he has been a member of the Association of the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation.
