Salum Mohamed

Salum Mohamed is a seasoned professional in social policy and protection, currently serving as the Programme Development and Quality Manager at HelpAge International since September 2022. Prior experience includes leadership as the Head of the Social Protection Unit at the Ministry of Labour, Empowerment, Elders, Women and Children Zanzibar from April 2011 to June 2023. Salum also contributed to academia as a part-time lecturer at Zanzibar University, teaching a course on Child Protection, and previously worked as a Planning Officer at the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, where responsibilities included planning and monitoring social welfare initiatives. Early career experience includes a role as a trainer at Radiant Universal Study Centre, teaching English and Swahili. Salum holds a PhD in Social Policy from Kocaeli University, a Master's degree in Social Protection Financing from the University of Mauritius, and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University Abderrahmane Mira of Bejaia.
