Helping Hand
Gemma Skokna is a dedicated Speech Language Pathology graduate intern with extensive experience in providing therapy and assessment to diverse populations. Currently at Helping Hand Center since April 2020, Gemma designs and implements treatment plans for children with varying disorders. Previous internships include roles at Naperville Community Unit School District 203 and Community Consolidated School District 15, where Gemma tailored therapy for monolingual and bilingual students, collaborated with educational professionals, and conducted comprehensive evaluations. Education includes a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Elmhurst University, focusing on multicultural and multilingual emphasis, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders and Spanish from Saint Mary's College.

Helping Hand
Helping Hand is a non-profit organization serving over 600 children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in suburban Cook County and greater Chicagoland communities since 1955. We offer a wide range of person-centered programs and services that enhance the educational, therapeutic, residential, and employment opportunities for those we serve. Our programs and services include a school, progressive employment programs that promote inclusive workplaces, pediatric therapies (occupational and speech/language), high school transition services, Community Living (CILA), and specialized programs with high team member-to-client ratios for seniors with disabilities.
