Dan Thorpe has extensive experience in the nonprofit sector, with a focus on fundraising and leadership roles. Dan began their career in 2005 at the American Cancer Society, where they served in various positions with increasing responsibilities in Virginia and North Carolina. In 2011, they moved to the American Heart Association, where they managed development initiatives and served as the Vice President of Development and Metro Executive Director. In 2014, they joined the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine as the Executive Director of Major Gifts and Advancement for the Department of Pediatrics. Dan then returned to the American Heart Association as the Senior Vice President of Development Operations for the Mid-Atlantic Affiliate before transitioning to the American Cancer Society as the Executive Director for Central and Eastern North Carolina. In 2020, they were promoted to Vice President of Community Fundraising and later became the Senior Vice President for Community Fundraising at the American Cancer Society. Dan is currently the Chief of Marketing and Development at HelpMeSee. Throughout their career, Dan has been responsible for driving revenue growth, managing staff teams, and achieving annual revenue goals.
Dan Thorpe obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education / Interdisciplinary Studies from Old Dominion University, completing their studies from 1999 to 2003. Continuing their education at the same institution, they then pursued a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership (Higher Education Administration) from 2003 to 2006. In addition to their previous degrees, they are currently enrolled in the Berkshire Christian / ACGC Ministry Training Institute, expected to graduate in 2023 with a Ministry Endorsement.
