Dr. Bernd Eßer

Dr. Bernd Eßer has had an extensive career in the field of cybersecurity. Dr. Bernd is currently serving as the Chief Security Officer at Helsing since September 2021. Prior to this, they held the position of Sr. Director Consulting at Gartner from April 2019 to September 2021. Dr. Eßer also served as the CISO & SVP Security Services at BWI IT für Deutschland from January 2017 to March 2019.

Before joining BWI IT für Deutschland, Dr. Eßer worked at Deutsche Telekom AG, where they held the role of Director Deutsche Telekom Cyber Defense & CERT from August 2010 to December 2016. In this role, they were responsible for managing high-level cyber security incidents, developing cyber security strategies, and business development.

Dr. Eßer began their career at Detecon International GmbH in August 1996 as a Managing Consultant. During their tenure, they founded and led the consulting group ICT Risk & Security Management. Dr. Bernd provided top management security consulting for telecommunication operators worldwide and was involved in business development and portfolio management for security consulting. Dr. Bernd worked at Detecon International GmbH until August 2010.
