From 1998 to 2015, Peter Niggli was CEO of Alliance Sud, the consortium of the largest aid and development organizations in Switzerland. Before that, Niggli worked as a freelance journalist, focusing mostly on Africa, Economics, and Politics. From 1990 to 1996, he was a city councilman for the Green Party in Zurich. In addition to sitting on Helvetas’ Board of Directors, he is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Fastenopfer, the Swiss Catholic Lenten Fund, and ZEWO. He was also a cofounder of the Corporate Responsibility Initiative. Niggli is an author and publisher of numerous publications and books on sustainable development policy.
