General Counsel at Hemlock Semiconductor

George leads the legal function at Hemlock Semiconductor Operations, working closely with other members of executive leadership on legal and business matters. In his role as corporate secretary, George is responsible for corporate governance and recordkeeping.

George was named General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Hemlock Semiconductor Operations in 2018 and has broad-based legal expertise. He possesses a well-developed business acumen and strong people leadership skills.

George began his career in 1990 as a prosecuting attorney with the National Labor Relations Board in in Detroit, Michigan. In 1996, he entered private practice as an associate, then partner at the Detroit office of Clark Hill PLC. His focus there was on labor and employment law, as well as litigation. In 2002, George joined The Dow Chemical Company as corporate labor counsel in Midland, Michigan. He moved to Dow’s commercial law group in 2006 as lead counsel and represented Dow’s market-facing business units. In 2012, George moved to Dow’s Houston, Texas office and became managing counsel for Dow’s Feedstocks, Energy and Hydrocarbons businesses. In 2015, he added responsibility as general counsel and corporate secretary of Univation Technologies, LLC, a Houston-based Dow subsidiary that is a global leader in licensing polyethylene manufacturing technology and catalysts.

In addition, prior to moving to Houston in 2012, George was an adjunct professor at Saginaw Valley State University for four years. He taught a variety of courses including business law, labor law and introduction to law.
