Sebastian Benz

Sebastian Benz has a diverse work experience in the field of biochemical production, process R&D, and laboratory management. Sebastian currently holds the position of Head of Biochemical Production at hemotune AG, starting in March 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Lab head for Process R&D at Arxada from June 2021 to January 2023. Before that, they served as Lab Head for R&D at Dottikon Exclusive Synthesis AG from January 2020 to May 2021, and as an R&D Chemist from February 2019 to December 2019. Sebastian also completed an internship as an R&D Chemist at Firmenich in December 2018. In addition, they gained experience through an industrial traineeship in flexible electronics at CSIRO from 2010 to 2011 and a bachelor thesis at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) from April 2010 to June 2010. Sebastian began their career as a Laboratory Technician at Ciba, where they worked from 2006 to 2007 after completing an apprenticeship as a Laboratory Technician from 2003 to 2006.

Sebastian Benz has an extensive education history in the field of chemistry. Sebastian first attended HES-SO Haute école spécialisée de Suisse occidentale from 2007 to 2008, where they completed the first year of their Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Chemistry. Sebastian then went on to study at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland FHNW from 2008 to 2010 and obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Molecular lifesciences. Sebastian then pursued further education at the University of Zurich, where they completed a Master of Science in Chemistry from 2012 to 2013. Finally, they attended the University of Geneva from 2014 to 2018, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Organic Chemistry.
