Chelsea Knutson is an accomplished legal professional with extensive experience in public defense and criminal law. Currently serving as an Assistant Public Defender at Hennepin Public Defender since April 2018, Chelsea has held roles in the Person Felony Unit, Property/Drug Felony Unit, and Misdemeanor Unit. Prior experience includes serving as a Judicial Law Clerk at Tenth Judicial District from May 2016 to April 2018, a Law Clerk at Hennepin Public Defender from May 2015 to May 2016, and a Street Law Volunteer Teacher at Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center. Chelsea also has experience as a Clinic Assistant with the Volunteer Lawyers Network and a Legal Intern at The Legal Rights Center, as well as participating as an Asylum Law Project Volunteer Clerk. Chelsea holds a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree from the University of Minnesota Law School, with a concentration in Criminal Justice, and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Sociology of Law, Criminology, and Deviance, graduating magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota.
