Tina M. Griffin serves as Vice President of Patient Care Services & Chief Operating Officer for Athol Hospital. A passionate nursing leader and experienced clinician, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her position. As Vice President of Patient Care Services, Ms. Griffin has achieved hospital wide clinical improvements by incorporating evidence based practices. She brings a strong commitment to providing quality support services, facilities management and operations management. Ms. Griffin has been instrumental in the growth of Athol Hospital. Committed to patient care, she continues to provide services as a Pain and Palliative Care Consultant at both Athol and Heywood Hospitals and as an Oncology Nurse Practitioner at Athol Hospital on a limited basis.
Ms. Griffin has over 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry, including extensive experience in Emergency Medicine, Pain and Palliative care, Oncology and Rheumatology. She has been part of Heywood’s clinical management and clinical teams since 1986 and previously held positions as Director of Emergency Services, Director of Oncology, Pain and Palliative Services at Heywood Hospital. She has practiced as a Nurse Practitioner in Hematology and Oncology in the UMASS system at HealthAlliance Hospital, Heywood and Athol Hospitals and in the Emergency Departments at Heywood and South Shore Hospital in South Weymouth, MA.
Ms. Griffin is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Family Nurse Practitioner and holds national board certifications in the fields of Oncology, Hospice, Palliative Care and Pain Management. She received her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL, her Bachelors’ and Masters’ of Science Degrees from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She began her training at Mount Wachusett Community College with an Associate Degree in Nursing. She also completed the American College of Rheumatology’s post-graduate training program in Adult Rheumatology.
Ms. Griffin is a member of the Organization of Nurse Leaders, Massachusetts Hospital Association, Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association. She also served a three-year term on the Board of Directors of the Gardner Visiting Nursing Association, Inc. and is a board member for the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts.
