Wendy Winchester

Senior Director, Translational Science at Heptares Therapeutics

Wendy Winchester has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on translational science and drug discovery in the field of gastrointestinal disease. Wendy is currently the Senior Director of Translational Science at Sosei Heptares, a role they have held since January 2022. Prior to this, Wendy worked at Takeda where they held various positions, including Senior Director of the Gastroenterology Drug Discovery Unit from 2018 to 2020 and Scientific Director of the Gastroenterology Drug Discovery Unit at Takeda Development Centre, Europe from 2016 to 2020. Before joining Takeda, they worked at Neusentis (Pfizer) as an Associate Director from 2011 to 2014, and at GlaxoSmithKline as a GI Team Leader from 2001 to 2007. Wendy's career began at PGRD where they worked as a research scientist from 1994 to 2001 and later as an Associate Director from 2007 to 2011. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated leadership, research expertise, and a commitment to advancing knowledge and treatments in the field of gastrointestinal health.

Wendy Winchester's education history begins with their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Physiology and Pharmacology from the University of Sheffield, which they obtained from 1985 to 1988. Following this, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Physiology, specializing in intestinal afferent sensitivity, at The University of Sheffield from 1988 to 1992.
