Katleen Vandersmissen

Katleen Vandersmissen is the Managing Partner at HERAN Partners. Katleen has over eight years of experience in the investment industry, with a focus on healthcare and sustainability.

Prior to joining HERAN Partners, Ms. Vandersmissen was the Head of Health&Care at LRM from June 2017 to December 2019. In this role, they were responsible for the strategic direction and investments decisions within the domain of BioTech, MedTech, Care, Food and e-Health. Additionally, they served as a Board Director for Apitope, EpiGaN, Bedal, VitalNext, and New Vision.

From September 2016 to June 2017, Ms. Vandersmissen was an Investment Manager for LRM where they managed the investment process from lead generation to due diligence to transaction and follow-up for investments in the New Materials, BioTech, MedTech, Care and Food domains.

Ms. Vandersmissen began their career at McKinsey & Company as an Associate from October 2011 to February 2013. Katleen then moved to Umicore as an Investor Relations Manager from July 2010 to October 2010.

Ms. Vandersmissen holds a Master’s degree in Business Economics from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium.

Katleen Vandersmissen has a post-graduate degree in Corporate Finance from KU Leuven, a Vennootschapsrecht degree from EHSAL Management School, a PhD in Chemistry from KU Leuven, a Teaching Certificate in Chemistry from KU Leuven, a Master's in Chemistry from KU Leuven, and a Bachelor's in Chemistry from UHasselt. Katleen also has an EVCA degree.
