James Breyer

James Breyer has extensive experience in the automotive industry, with a focus on electric mobility and electrification. James is the Founder, CEO, and Chief Product Officer of Hercules Electric Mobility, where they are responsible for developing product strategies, roadmaps, and cycle plans across multiple mobility markets. Additionally, they have developed go-to-market plans and product architectures for luxury electric vehicle models.

Prior to their role at Hercules Electric Mobility, Breyer served as the Chief Technology Officer at XL Fleet Electrification. In this position, they developed new product roadmaps and strategies to enter new business sectors and evaluated strategic partnerships and potential mergers and acquisitions for technical and financial synergies. Breyer also developed a comprehensive new market strategy focused on China business opportunities and emerging international electrification markets.

Before XL Fleet Electrification, Breyer worked as the Director of Advanced Engineering at Ficosa North America. James also held the position of Senior Engineering Manager at Magna International, where they led various engineering groups and worked on projects related to intelligent pump controllers, battery management systems, power lift-gate controllers, and more.

Breyer's work experience also includes managerial roles at Chrysler Group LLC and General Motors, where they focused on supplier management, software engineering capability assessments, and material cost optimization operations management. At General Motors, they also served as an Electrification Lead Development Engineer, leading the development of the Spark EV and Chevy Volt powertrains.

Earlier in their career, Breyer gained experience as a Senior Systems Engineer at Ballard Power Systems, specializing in integrated electric powertrains and power electronics. James also worked as an HEV Advanced Controls Systems Engineer at Ford Motor Company Research.

James Breyer's education history begins with their high school education at Detroit Catholic Central High School, where they obtained a High School diploma from 1987 to 1991. James then pursued computer software engineering at Michigan State University from 1991 to 1993. However, it is unclear if they obtained a degree from this institution.

Following that, Breyer attended the University of Detroit Mercy from 1993 to 1998, where they earned a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree. Their field of study within electrical engineering was focused on computer engineering.

In 2002, Breyer went on to pursue an MBA in Business Administration at Regis University, completing their studies in 2005.
