Stephen Chen

Stephen Chen has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Stephen started their career at Convera in 2000, where they worked as an Engineering Lead and Solution Architect, overseeing client integration service delivery for major organizations such as the NBA, ESPN, and National Geographic.

In 2002, Chen joined eBay as a Technical Program Manager, where they played a key role in the development of the eBay Developer Program site, driving program growth and increasing third-party delivered listings.

After eBay, Chen joined Lockheed Martin in 2004, initially serving as a Certified Principal Engineer (CPE) for the Air Force Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) program. Stephen then transitioned into the role of System Operations Manager, managing data center operations and implementing security and disaster recovery plans.

In 2007, Chen joined TRUSTe Inc as the Director of Technology, responsible for deploying technology and enabling automation to support the company's privacy services and platforms.

Chen rejoined Lockheed Martin in 2009, first serving as an Engineering Program Manager for the Air Force SBIRS program, reengineering software and hardware teams. Stephen was later promoted to the role of Program Deputy CIO, overseeing IT operations for a Navy Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) customer and driving operational and technological advancements.

In 2016, Chen joined SRI International as the Director of Enterprise Program Management, where they defined governance and structure for project and program performance objectives, leading to enhanced integration across R&D and engineering divisions.

From 2020 to 2022, Chen was a member of the Forbes Technology Council and served on the Cybersecurity Advisory Board at California State University, Chico.

Most recently, Chen joined NuCompass Mobility Services Inc. in 2019 as the Senior Vice President of Technology & Security, providing vision and leadership in implementing and managing technology, security, and data science solutions. Stephen also serves as a Board Member and Chief Technology Officer at Here to Serve, Inc., a charitable organization.

Stephen Chen's education history includes various degrees and certifications in the field of technology and engineering. Stephen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering. Stephen also obtained a Master of Science degree in Engineering from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo. Additionally, they earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the same institution.

Stephen has pursued executive education as well, specializing in the role of Chief Technology Officer. Stephen completed an Executive Education program at the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business.

In January 2022, they earned a certification in "Intelligent Investing" from the same institution.

In addition to these certifications, Stephen has achieved the "Post Graduate Program in Artificial Intelligence for Leaders" from the Texas McCombs School of Business in May 2021. Stephen also completed a certification in "Cybersecurity for Executives" through CSU, Chico Regional & Continuing Education in December 2020.

Stephen's earlier certifications include "Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP)" from the Project Management Institute in June 2017 and "Program Management" from Lockheed Martin in August 2010. Stephen obtained the "Scrum Master Certified (SMC)" certification from the Scrum Alliance in October 2009.
