Paul Hopton

Paul Hopton has extensive work experience in technology and engineering roles. Paul has held positions as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Scoutbee since 2022, where they are responsible for the company's technological direction. Before that, they served as the CTO at unu from 2020 to 2022, where they restructured the team, launched a flagship product, and introduced an ERP system.

Prior to their role at unu, Paul worked at relayr from 2013 to 2020, initially as a co-founder and Chief Engineer, and later as the CTO. At relayr, they built and led teams in developing innovative IoT solutions, including hardware, cloud platforms, and distributed AI systems. Paul was also able to shape the company's direction and vision and exceed market expectations.

Before their time at relayr, Paul was the CTO and Lead Developer at raumHOCH from 2012 to 2013. Paul streamlined the team, improved the software's codebase, and implemented processes that reduced costs and increased profits.

Paul's career began at DNA Consulting in 1996, where they served as a Projects Director, leading a team of designers and UI programmers. Paul was responsible for writing specifications, managing budgets, and presenting to clients. Paul then worked as a Freelance Programmer at Less Rain from 1998 to 2008, where they contributed to various projects. Additionally, Paul worked at Hoxton Bibliotech as a JavaScript Tutor in 1997, teaching courses in Basic Flash and Advanced JavaScript.

Paul Hopton began their education at Southend High School for Boys in 1981-1989. Paul then attended Southend Technical College from 1989-1990, where they completed an Art Foundation Course. Later on, from 1991-1994, they pursued a BA(hons) in Interactive Arts at the University of Wales, Newport. Most recently, in 2020-2022, Paul enrolled at ESMT Berlin to earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
