Dr. Heather Renter, PhD, is the Director of Education and Research at Heritage Community of Kalamazoo since May 2023, where responsibilities include directing and coaching a team serving the regional Southwest Michigan population and overseeing a budget of approximately $180K annually for programming. Holding a longstanding affiliation with Grand Valley State University since 2011, Dr. Renter also serves as a Fellow in Adult Learning, Co-Chair of the Art and Science of Aging Annual Conference, and has held roles as Associate Professor and Assistant Professor in the College of Health Professions focusing on Public Health. Prior academic experience includes positions at the University of Lethbridge and the University of Kentucky, where Dr. Renter earned a PhD in Gerontology, Rural Health, and Health Behavior. Additional experience includes roles in clinical data management and research health science at Eli Lilly and the Veterans Health Administration. Dr. Renter holds a BS in Sociology from Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis.
