Ali Alavi

Ali Alavi has extensive work experience in regulatory affairs, environmental policies, and legal counsel. Ali'smost recent role is as the Executive Vice President - Regulatory Affairs & Chief Legal Officer at Heritage Environmental Services. Prior to that, they held positions as the Senior Vice President - Regulatory Affairs & General Counsel at Heritage Environmental Services and the SVP of Corporate & Environmental Affairs at American Zinc Recycling Corp. (formerly known as Horsehead Corporation). Ali also served as the Vice President - Corporate Administration, General Counsel & Secretary, and the Director & Counsel – Environmental, Health & Safety – Environmental Performance at Horsehead Corporation. Ali was a past board member at the National Mining Association and a past member of the Board of Directors – Western Pennsylvania at the Association of Corporate Counsel. Earlier in their career, Ali worked as an Assistant General Counsel – Senior Environmental Analyst at Clean Sites, Inc., a Senior Regulatory Analyst at API - American Petroleum Institute, and a Program/Project Manager – Environmental Programs at the United States Army Environmental Center. Throughout their career, Ali has demonstrated expertise in environmental compliance, regulatory advocacy, legal affairs, and strategic leadership.

Ali Alavi attended the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law from 1989 to 1993, where they obtained a Doctor of Law (JD) degree. Before that, they completed a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Geography, with a concentration in Environmental Studies, from the University of Pittsburgh. Ali also holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. Ali Alavi has additional certifications in Bar Admission from the Maryland State Bar Association, DC Bar, and Pennsylvania Bar Association, although the specific dates of obtaining these certifications are not provided.
