Saul Kato is co-founder and CEO of Herophilus. He is a former tech entrepreneur turned neuroscientist. He holds an assistant professorship at the Weill Institute for Neurosciences at the University of California, San Francisco and has made seminal discoveries in understanding the function of biological neural networks. He has a deep background in computer science, physics, and neuroscience, with a PhD in neurobiology from Columbia University and an MS in electrical engineering and BS in physics from Stanford University. Prior to his PhD, he was a pioneer in computer graphics and wireless technologies, as founder and CEO of Sven Technologies, a 3D graphics software company acquired by Dassault Systemes, and founder and CEO of WideRay Corp., a wireless infrastructure company acquired by Dimensional Associates.
