George Ritchotte is a Senior Scientist at Herrera Environmental Consultants. George has over 15 years of experience working in the environmental field.

George began their career as an Environmental Specialist with the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department in 2002. In this role, they provided technical and regulatory assistance to recycling and composting facilities, interpreted county laws to formulate policy, and reviewed permit applications and SEPA checklists. George also researched the extent of arsenic and lead contamination in western Pierce County, mapped study sites using ArcView GIS software, and analyzed data and prepared reports for the Department of Ecology and public review.

In 2005, George joined the Washington State Department of Transportation as a Biologist. George served as the Biology Lead on large transportation projects, providing policy and technical assistance to consultant teams and agency staff, writing and reviewing Biological Assessments and Discipline Reports, performing wetland delineations and habitat assessments, negotiating environmental mitigation with Tribes and regulatory agencies, representing WSDOT on multijurisdictional committees, and managing consultants responsible for delivering environmental documentation.

George joined Herrera Environmental Consultants in 2014. George is currently a Senior Scientist at the company, where they provide expert advice on a wide range of environmental issues.

George Ritchotte has a professional certification in Wetland Science and Management from the University of Washington, a Master of Science in Wildlife Biology from the University of Montana, and a BA in Biology and French from Franklin & Marshall College. George also has certifications from North Seattle Community College in Emergency Medical Technician and from the Northwest Environmental Training Center in Backpack Electrofishing and Fish Handling Techniques.
