Alex Woodman

Alex Woodman serves as the Chief Fire Officer and Executive Director at Hertfordshire County Council, overseeing the Community Protection Directorate since 2021, which includes Fire and Rescue, Trading Standards, Public Health, Emergency Planning & Resilience, and Community Safety Services. With extensive experience at Westminster City Council from 2008 to 2021, Alex held positions as Director of Public Protection & Licensing and Head of Service, focusing on performance delivery, strategic change, and efficiency improvements. Additionally, Alex acted as Chief of Staff for the London Strategic Coordination Group during critical situations such as the Covid-19 pandemic and the Grenfell Tower disaster, demonstrating leadership in coordinating multi-agency responses. Prior experience includes serving as a Police Officer at the Metropolitan Police from 1999 to 2008. Alex completed education at Dulwich College.
