Location: Wanaque, New Jersey/Remote (periodic travel required) 

The Senior Investigator plays a critical role within the investigative team, acting as a bridge between the Manager of Investigations and entry-level Investigators. This position is responsible for conducting complex investigations, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring high-quality deliverables that meet client expectations. The Senior Investigator provides subject matter expertise, supports operational workflows, and collaborates closely with the Manager of Investigations to uphold team standards and ensure deadlines are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Advanced Investigations
    • Lead and execute complex investigations, including due diligence, intellectual property cases, cyber investigations, and background checks.
    • Analyze information from diverse sources, synthesize findings, and produce comprehensive, high-quality reports tailored to client needs.
    • Handle escalated or sensitive cases that require advanced expertise and discretion.
  • Mentor and Support Investigators
    • Provide guidance and mentorship to entry-level Investigators, helping them refine research methods, analytical skills, and report writing.
    • Review and provide constructive feedback on Investigator reports to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to company standards.
    • Lead by example, fostering a culture of professionalism and accountability within the investigative team.
  • Ensure Quality and Compliance
    • Collaborate with the Manager of Investigations to uphold quality control standards across all investigative deliverables.
    • Conduct initial reviews of case files and reports before submission to the Manager, ensuring compliance with internal policies and client requirements.
    • Assist in implementing best practices and maintaining ethical standards in all investigative activities.
  • Team and Workflow Coordination
    • Act as a liaison between the Manager of Investigations and Investigators, ensuring clear communication of priorities, deadlines, and case assignments.
    • Support operational workflows by assisting with case tracking and ensuring timely progress on assignments.
    • Identify potential bottlenecks in team workflows and recommend solutions to maintain productivity and efficiency.
  • Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing
    • Collaborate with the Manager of Investigations and other Senior team members to share insights and identify opportunities for process improvement.
    • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and brainstorming initiatives to enhance investigative practices and tools.
    • Stay informed on emerging investigative techniques, tools, and industry trends, sharing relevant knowledge with the team.
  • Client-Focused Support
    • Provide subject matter expertise on investigative processes and findings during client discussions when requested by the Manager or leadership.
    • Ensure reports and deliverables are client-ready, reflecting professionalism and the organization’s standards.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience 5+ years of investigative experience, including complex casework such as intellectual property, cyber investigations, or due diligence.
  • Demonstrated leadership or mentoring experience within a team environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Intelligence Studies, Business Administration, or related field. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Advanced research and analytical skills, with proficiency in OSINT and investigative tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities, including report writing and presenting findings.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative mindset with a focus on team success.
