Carlos Crisóstomo Vals, MSc. has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Carlos is the founder and freelance engineer at xift.ai, a technology consulting firm specializing in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. Carlos has expertise in data science, machine learning, deep learning, edge AI, defensive security, ethical hacking, pentesting, and security audits.

In addition, Carlos has worked as a Lead XOps Engineer at HEURISTIK, where they focused on cloud infrastructure using AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, and AI. Carlos was also a Lead DevSecOps Engineer at Nyxell, responsible for improving security, monitoring, and DevOps infrastructure using tools like Terraform, DataDog, Kubernetes, CI/CD, security audits, and pentesting.

Carlos has experience as a Lead DevOps Engineer at InQidea Soluciones and Logixs, working with Google Cloud infrastructure, architecture, and GKE Kubernetes, and with AWS and cloud-native infrastructure technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD, respectively.

Carlos has extensive expertise in GNU/Linux and Android embedded operating systems, project management, driver development, kernel, cybersecurity, and reverse engineering under Intel x86/x86_64, PowerPC, and ARM architectures.

Carlos Crisóstomo Vals, MSc. has a diverse and extensive education history. Carlos began their academic journey at Colegio San Luis de los Franceses, where they completed their EGB/BUP/COU education between 1985 and 1999, providing him with a strong foundation.

Carlos then pursued their passion for computer engineering at the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca. Carlos obtained a Technical Engineering degree in Computer Systems from 2000 to 2012.

Continuing their education, Carlos enrolled at CAS Training in 2014 and earned a Master's degree in Project Management. In the same year, they also became an associate member of the Project Management Institute (PMI).

Carlos further broadened their expertise by pursuing an Engineer's degree in Computer Engineering at the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca from 2014 to 2016.

With a focus on cybersecurity, Carlos completed a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Cybersecurity from UNIR - La Universidad en Internet between 2016 and 2018.

Driven by their interest in artificial intelligence, Carlos pursued a Master of Science (MS) in Artificial Intelligence at UNIR from 2018 to 2021. During this time, they also expanded their knowledge by obtaining certifications such as the Docker Training from Docker, Inc, and the SCRUM & SCRUM Master Training from Xsfera.

Furthermore, Carlos is a continual learner, as evident from their various certifications. Carlos completed the Coursera Wharton Business Foundations Specialization - Introduction to Marketing from The Wharton School in 2017. Carlos also obtained certifications in Kubernetes Fundamentals, Introduction to Kubeflow, and Complete Rust Course in subsequent years.

Carlos is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science at UNIR - La Universidad en Internet, starting in 2021.

Aside from their academic achievements, Carlos has been an active member of professional organizations, including the IEEE Computer Society, IEEE, Free Software Foundation, and the Electronic Frontier Foundation, where they hold memberships or associate status.
