Stephen Wells

Stephen Wells has extensive work experience in the engineering and planning industry. Stephen held the position of Senior Vice President of Operations at Hg Consult, Inc. starting in November 2021. Prior to that, they were a Vice President at Hg Consult since November 2013, where they served as the Partner, Business Development Manager, and Project Manager for transportation and environmental planning projects. Stephen was also involved in major transportation planning projects such as the US169/I-70 Broadway PEL and the I-80 PEL.

Before their time at Hg Consult, Stephen worked at HNTB as a Vice President, Assistant Office Leader, and Transportation Group Director for their Kansas City operations. Stephen was also the Client Service Manager for the Iowa and Missouri DOT. Stephen managed various high-profile projects, including the I-70 Supplemental EIS.

From 1992 to 2006, Stephen worked at CDM Smith as a Vice President and Office Manager for Wilbur Smith Associates' Kansas City office. Stephen played a key role in establishing the Kansas City office and managed projects such as the I-70 Tiered EIS - SIU 6 and the I-235 EIS in Des Moines.

Stephen Wells attended the University of Iowa from 1987 to 1992, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Political Science. Stephen then pursued a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the same university, which they completed from 1990 to 1992. Furthermore, in June 1995, they obtained certification from the American Planning Association, specifically the AICP (American Institute of Certified Planners).
