Ann Aikin is a seasoned communications expert with extensive experience in health communications and public health policy. Currently serving as the Director of Communication at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services since October 2020, Aikin previously led vaccine communication efforts as the Director of Vaccine Communication at the Office of Infectious Disease and HIV/AIDS Policy from January 2014 to October 2020. Prior roles include Director of Digital Communication and New Media at the FDA Center for Tobacco Products and Senior Social Media Strategist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Aikin’s career began as a Volunteer with the U.S. Peace Corps, focusing on STI/HIV/TB prevention and training health workers. Aikin holds an MA in Communications and a BA in Journalism and Political Science from the University of Iowa.
