Kate Poor

Kate Poor has a diverse and extensive work experience. Kate is currently employed as a Housing Strategy Specialist at HIAS. Prior to this, they worked as a Graduate Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant at the University of Pennsylvania. Kate also served as a Research & Community Engagement Assistant for the Immigrant Home Repair Project at the Netter Center for Community Partnerships. Previously, Kate worked as a Refugee Program Specialist at Interfaith Action of Central Texas and held various roles at Casa Marianella Inc, including Housing Director and Case Manager and Shelter Operations Coordinator. Kate has also worked as a Writing Specialist at Apolish, a Researcher/Writer at Obataimu, and a Communications Associate at ISanctuary. Additionally, Kate gained experience as a Student Supervisor and Barista at Green Dragon Cafe and as a Community Outreach Intern at Victim Rights Law Center.

Kate Poor earned a Bachelor's Degree from Cornell University in 2016, majoring in American Studies and Feminism, Gender, & Sexuality Studies, graduating with summa cum laude honors. From 2021 to 2023, they pursued a Master's degree in City Planning at the University of Pennsylvania, maintaining a GPA of 4.0 in their field of study.
