Kristen's early career included serving as an AmeriCorps Volunteer from August 1996 to August 1998. In this role, they were a VISTA Volunteer Coordinator for a literacy program in Oregon called SMART. Kristen trained and oversaw volunteers, expanded the program to new schools, and recruited and trained new volunteers.
