Kristen Strain

Kristen Strain has a diverse work experience spanning over 25 years. Kristen'smost recent role is as an Associate General Counsel at HIAS, a position they have held since February 2021. Prior to this, from November 2016 to February 2021, they served as the Executive Director of the Tahirih Justice Center in Baltimore. In this role, they provided leadership, managed the local office, represented clients in legal proceedings, and developed strategic goals and policies.

Before their time at Tahirih, Kristen worked at Venable LLP as an Attorney from February 2003 to January 2016. Kristen'sresponsibilities included handling pharmaceutical product litigation and mediation, managing complex legal issues, conducting discovery, and preparing cases for trial. Kristen also served as coordinating national counsel for pharmaceutical companies in mass tort litigation.

From September 2001 to January 2003, Kristen worked as an Associate Attorney at Kitch Drutchas Wagner Valitutti & Sherbrook, P.C. Here, they represented healthcare providers in medical malpractice cases, reviewed medical records, and analyzed legal issues.

Kristen's early career included serving as an AmeriCorps Volunteer from August 1996 to August 1998. In this role, they were a VISTA Volunteer Coordinator for a literacy program in Oregon called SMART. Kristen trained and oversaw volunteers, expanded the program to new schools, and recruited and trained new volunteers.

Kristen Strain attended Loyola Law School, Los Angeles from 1998 to 2001, earning a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in Law. Prior to that, they studied at The College of Wooster from 1990 to 1994, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Sociology and Anthropology.
