Smita Dazzo is the Senior Director of Legal & Asylum at HIAS. Smita has worked as an attorney for Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington and Amnesty International. In their current role, they provide legal services to immigrants and refugees. Smita has also worked on advocacy efforts to pass legislation related to immigration, such as the International Violence Against Women Act and the DREAM Act.
Smita Dazzo has a Master of Arts in International Politics from American University, a Juris Doctor in International Human Rights Law from American University Washington College of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and French Studies from Emory University.
